I decided on a re-brand as there is a coach company called ‘Caledonian Travel’, which I thought might cause confusion.
April is the month for new spring lambs. We have more sheep than people in Scotland so there are plenty to see.
How does it work? For every two days driver guiding I will plant one tree in association with the Woodland Trust. I will send a certificate to the clients. The forest I have chosen is on the West Kilpatrick Hills, just outside Dumbarton.
You may wonder, why does he not just buy an electric vehicle? The main problem is range. I would be lucky to get 170 miles from an electric van, I can sometimes do twice that in a day. Plus the recharging infrastructure is patchy and recharging takes time. Silicone batteries are on the horizon and they should solve that problem.
For 2023, in association with the Woodland Trust, I am offering carbon neutral driver guiding. For evey two days driver guiding I will plant one tree which offset the carbon emitted during the trip. My clients will be sent a certificate for the trees. My chosen forrest is on the West Kilpatrick Hills, close to Dumbarton.
Okay, January would not be the month I would most recommend to visit Scotland, but the weather is not all bad. These are some photos I took of Loch Lomond a couple of days ago.
There are a few places in Scotland where you can guarrantee a close up encounter with Highland Cattle. Cow being ‘coo’ in Scots they are affectionately known as ‘hairy coos’ here. The thick coat protects them from the cold in winter and from insects in summer. Although they look fierce they are actually very gentle creatures.
People see postcards of Scotland with the hills covered in purple heather and imagine it is like that all the time. Not true! The heather blossoms only for a few weeks in early spring and in August. Though I did manage to find this small clump of blossoming heather on Loch Lomond in July. I think its bioclock must need resetting.
Sorry, had to block comments to the posts as I have just had to remove more than 400 spam comments. Apologies if I removed a genuine comment or two in amongst those.
Twice in one week at St.Andrews, which is great. Surprising how advanced the preparations for The Open golf championship are, considering it is not until July it seems they only need to add scoreboards and cameras.
