Cities and scenery

Edinburgh

Is the ancient capital city of Scotland and is dominated by its castle. Around the castle huddles the ‘old town’,  the medieval city with its narrow alleyways and twisting streets. To the north is the elegant ‘new ‘town, laid out in the late eighteenth century.

Glasgow

Is the largest city in Scotland, once the ‘second city’ of the British Empire. It has the only intact medieval cathedral on mainland Scotland, the best nineteenth century architecture in Britain and impressive modern architecture.
